Learning about the ins and outs of the industry. Internships provide students with hands-on experience which they can never acquire in classrooms. They get to actually do the job they have been yearning for, and learn from no less but the experts. They also gain a deeper understanding about the profession as they get exposed to what happens behind the camera. For instance, those who are into advertising would know how painstaking the process is to coming up with a 30-second TV ad.
Broadening networks. You will meet lots of people, from your teammates, fellow interns, big bosses to top clients. And they all can be of help to you in the future as you enter the workforce, yourself. Your supervisor can write recommendation letters for you. Your teammates can refer you to hiring companies. So maintain lines of communication and treat everyone equally. Never look down on anyone because you never know where they could be tomorrow.
Discovering skills. You will be given roles to play, and you will be asked to assist others, too. Along the way, you might realize that you appreciate your desired career more. Or you might find out that your set of skills match job requirements for another profession, and not that one that you have always eyed on. Either way, the experience itself that you will gain during the internship shall aid make you feel fulfilled. For you to have managed another set of responsibilities while you are in college is a big accomplishment.
Working with professionals has tons of perks that students may not realize while they are on it. Right now, you might see internships as burden. But eventually, you will thank your college for pushing you to acquire that experience. Experience is the greatest perks that your internship has to offer. You could brag about that experience and learn from it. Intership is usually the main preparation key to your working stage life after college.
