New England in the summer time is the ultimate vacation spot for politicians, celebrities, and thousands of families in the United States. People know that the Kennedys loved their Cape Cod properties, and that almost every president has enjoyed a getaway at Martha's Vineyard. Nantucket is home to a variety of entertainers and politicians in the summer time, and when you and your friends get your Nantucket vacation rentals you shouldn't be too surprised if you see some of these famous people in town. Joe Biden Before Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden Jr. became the Vice President of the United States Oval Office he had a full and impressive political career. When he was elected to the Delaware Senate in 1972 he became the 6th youngest senator in U.S. history, and he is currently the 15th longest serving senator in U.S. history. Since Biden started his political career he's spent a lot of time in Nantucket. When he was still serving as Delaware's senator he would take his family's boat from Hyannis to Nantucket for the holidays, and since the tradition began his family has been strictly following it. One local paper was able to get some great pictures of Biden and his family when they visited the island for Thanksgiving for the 36th straight year. Bill Frist William Harrison "Bill" Frist Sr. has had a very full professional life. Before he recognized his political ambitions Bill was a gifted surgeon. He studied at Harvard Medical School and has performed over 150 heart and lung transplants during his career. He was the first staff surgeon at the Nashville Veterans Administration Hospital, and in 1991 he operated on Lieutenant Colonel David Petraues after he was shot during a training exercise at Fort Campbell. He served two terms as a Republican senator for Tennessee, and he was the Republican Majority Leader from 2003 to 2007. When Frist wasn't saving lives or leading his political party he spent time vacationing in Nantucket. He loves the area so much that he was one of the founding members of The Nantucket Project, an organization that brings together the best and brightest minds of Nantucket each year for a conference where they can honor the island's rich history and share their ideas for improving the community. John Kerry John Forbes Kerry is best known for his failed 2004 presidential campaign and his recent successful bid for the position of the Secretary of State, but most people who live on Nantucket just known him as another person who loves vacationing on the island. Kerry owns beachfront property near Nantucket's iconic Brand Point Lighthouse, where Kerry and his wife Teresa were married at the $9.1 million property in 1995. Kerry's love for Nantucket is so well known that during his presidential campaign some residents were worried that the island would be overrun with more members of the media and tourists if he won the presidency.
