This industry tells us that not a lot of the techniques and tricks work or last. If they did then the self help wouldn’t be the cash cow that it is. With all of the things that a person can get to improve themselves one has to wonder what self help techniques actually work. With self help being the lucrative business that it is some of these techniques have to have some validity. I mean, there just has to be some things that are helpful and improving for one’s self. Self Help Techniques that Actually Work Positive Thinking: There are millions of books that have been written about positive thinking. There are many variations of positive thinking that you can adjust to your mindset and situation. One thing that is definitely true is that the more negative you are as a person with your feelings, emotions, and thoughts the more negative results you’ll encounter with any endeavor. Positive thinking works because it causes you to shift the focus of how you see the world. You ever heard the phrase “Life is what you make it”. That’s what positive thinking does. It puts you in a position where you have to take responsibility for the choices that you make. When you’re able doing this you can certainly change your life for the better. Positive thinking forces you to be aware of choices and consequences. When you become aware of how your choices have created your situation you empower yourself so that you can change your life. Meditation: There is much evidence that mediation works. The major thing about meditation is its way for a person to get stress under control. Where many people may choose to tend to stress in harmful ways such as using alcohol, drugs, or other negative ways of dealing with problems meditation helps alleviate stress in a very positive way. Solving a problem with a problem only causes more problems. Meditation helps solve problems by helping that person to focus on what they really need or want. It’s a proactive approach to making you a better person. It calms, soothes, and helps you to be more peaceful. When you’re not stuck in the darkness of your problems you create clarity for yourself. When you have clarity you can make your life better. Goal Setting: There are so many people who want to get a degree, start a business, or get a better job. These same people spend millions of dollars on trying to make that happen. But what the majority of people recognizes what they need to do, but never set any goals for how to achieve. Think of goal setting as a business plan for your life. Successful business owners don’t start a business without having a workable plan that they know they have a good chance of achieving. When you don’t set goals it’s the same thing as making an empty promise. Your intentions are good, but there’s no real substance pushing it to fruition. When you set goals you put yourself in a position where you have to be accountable for your actions. You have to look at yourself and answer for why you didn`t do what needed to be done. Goal setting helps you to organize, prepare, and know what you need to do. That’s why this technique is useful, because you have to do the work in order to make your dreams come true. Release: People who hold on to every negative thing that has ever happened to them end up having miserable lives. Some people just don’t know how to let go of the hurt and pain that has happened to them. These people then build their lives based on avoiding those hurts they’ve had to suffer. There is no other quality of life to have except a miserable one when your whole world is based on pain. Self help techniques that teach about release or letting go of pain really help to improve your life. You’re able to properly deal with the pain, and put it behind you so that it’s no longer a factor in the life that you live. Most people want to let the hurt go, but they just don’t know how. The benefit of learning how to let go is that you’re taught how to deal with the pain. You learn how to not spend the rest of your life as a victim. When you can alleviate this issue your life automatically improves, and you open yourself up to better possibilities and chances. Gratefulness: Gratefulness is appreciation. Most people feel that being grateful for the situation they’re in is the same thing as accepting the life that they have. Obviously, you don’t want to do that especially if you’re seeking to make your life better. But that’s not what being grateful is all about. Gratefulness is about appreciating the good things that you already have so that you can build on them. When you don’t appreciate your own struggle you cut yourself off from the lessons that can teach you how to get to where it is you want to be. You’ll also focus on the negative aspects of your life. When you do this you’re only setting yourself up for more negative things. Learn how to be appreciative or grateful for what you already have helps you to see your strengths, your intelligence, and your potential. When you align yourself with these things your potential to accomplish expands phenomenally. The key to making self-help work is not by buying a book or a program. It’s found what actually works for you, and sticking to it. Most self help techniques fail because people don’t continue to do the work so that they can get the positive results. These five things definitely work because they truly do change your life for the better. Know that these things are fundamental to permanent change in a person’s life. Most self help is based around these five techniques. When you master these techniques you will become a great creator of your destiny.
