Why should you be ordained as a minister from a web site? Well experience is the best teacher they say. It is sort of paradoxical that some of the smartest people, with the most prestigious degrees lack common sense, and that some of those that never received their high school diploma have a wisdom that transcends book leaning. Apparently devoting all of your time and energy to meeting the demands of academic success leaves many people lacking basic skills and knowledge critical to other areas of their lives. The key to gaining true wisdom is to be open to new ideas and experiences. I’m wondering if you will see becoming an ordained minister as an experience that will change your life forever. Some people need to fully commit themselves to an idea or position before they can explore all the opportunities it that lay waiting for their enjoyment. How would you feel if you were saying the words, “By the power vested in me by the state, I now pronounce you husband and wife?” Whatever their heavenly connection, an ordained minister has real power and authority right here on Earth. It is granted to each reverend cleric by the state and by a church or other religious organization. Ordination is a two way street to be sure. When a minister is ordained they are accepting a duty and responsibility to promote the ideals, tenets, and welfare of the organization empowering them. When you are picking the church to be ordained by take a moment to be sure agree with the tenets and dogmas you will now be expected to uphold. When it comes to online ordination what you see is what you get. If the web site quotes the Bible at all then they are surely fundamentalists. If cite the words of scientist Carl Sagan then they are free thinking rationalist. If they allude to accepting every new age, wicaan, pagan and UFO worshiping screwball then they pretty much don’t stand for anything at all. Some people will seek out ordination from an online church because they are sick and tired of being told what they should believe. You probably already know that freethinkers cannot be followers, they have the deep internal need to be leaders. I don’t know if you are a free thinker or not, but if you are a rationalist and feel the calling to be ordained the perfect match for your personality type is the Church of Spiritual Humanism. Spiritual Humanism is a religion based on reason. The fundamental guiding principle is that only ideas that can be verified by the scientific method can be treated as fact. If something does not have valid proof we should not base our ethics and morals on it or worship it, or even treat it as being a real thing. You can go to the Church’s website to learn more about Spiritual Humanism and becoming an ordained minister. R.A. Zorger is the President and founder of the Spiritual Humanism movement and church.
