Over the years, motoring enthusiasts around the world have made notice of the cars that they consider to be the best. These models are the ones who outshine all others when it comes to speed and of course, looks. The sleek lines and gleaming curves of these high-performance Japanese cars surely make heads turn, even before their engines start revving up to show what they are really made of. These cars now have an added appeal: affordability. Gone are the days when the only ones who could afford high-performance cars were celebrities, CEOs, children of the rich and famous, and other millionaires. Now, because of the booming secondhand car market, these vehicles are now made available to everyone at reduced prices. Motorsport junkies swear by the performance and ultra good looks of the following models. This is automotive beauty at its best. Toyota Supra The Supra has a long history in the industry and an impressive lineage as a sports car. Style-wise it was derived from the Celica; engine-wise its predecessors were the 2000GT and the Crown. The word supra means “above” and “beyond” in Latin, and it’s a fitting name for a sporty coupe that’s considered to be one of the most-desired models in motorsport history. The last and final model of the Supra is the one that automotive hobbyists and tuners look for. The Supra had an inline 6-cylinder DOHC engine; most would also go for the twin-turbo version. Today, Supra owners modify and tune their vehicles to make them even sleeker, faster, and more attractive. Production of the Supra may have ended in 2002 but it continued to be active in motorsports until 2005. It’s definitely one of the favorite Japanese cars on the track. Nissan 370Z (Fairlady Z) Another favorite is the sleek Fairlady Z; enthusiasts in particular put the sixth-generation 370Z in high regard because of its speed (it’s the fasters in the series), performance, looks, reliability, and affordable price tag. Over 2 million units of the collective Z series have been sold worldwide, making the Z the all-time best-selling sports line. The 370Z is able to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds and is equipped with a powerful 3.7-liter V6 engine. The Fairlady Z also boasts of the world’s first 6-speed manual transmission with synchronized rev control. Mazda RX-7 Known in Japan as the Savanna, the RX-7 is iconic for its pop-up headlamps and Wankel rotary engine. It was first released in 1978 and since then there have been several versions (or series) of and modifications done to the model: convertible, FD, Series 6, Type R, Type RZ, Type RB, A-spec, Touring X, and even 1988 limited edition version for the model’s 10th anniversary, among others. The Series 6 has the most sales worldwide, and until now enthusiasts are looking for RX-7 units among pre-owned Japanese cars. These three models have a lot in common; aside from being able to boost their speed levels, they also have a sporty, timeless design that is very appealing to the eye, even when viewws by a non-enthusiast. Thanks to online exporters of Japanese cars, getting hold of one of these coupes is easier and definitely more affordable than buying a new high-performance car.
