If you didn’t know it yet, the latest Toyota Vitz generation has been redesigned and is now making its rounds in showrooms and vehicle stockyards all over the world. The compact hatchback has undergone a thorough redesign for its third-generation release that has made a significant improvement on the vehicle’s looks, engine performance, and cabin space. Let’s take a look at the upgrades and see why the Vitz is one subcompact hatchback you should definitely have. The Vitz, also known as the Yaris outside Japan, is a top contender in the supermini class, along with the Honda Fit and Ford Fiesta. The redesign assures it remains at the top of its class, boasting of a lower drag coefficient, improved aerodynamics, an extended wheelbase contributing to an increased overall length and more space, and one of its most special features: a super UV-cut glass on the front door, which is the first of its kind. The latest Toyota Vitz is sleeker and is quicker due to its restyled body shape that allows for a low coefficient drag value of 0.285. Taking the 1.3-liter engine as an example, the Vitz can go up to 26.5 kilometers on a single liter of gasoline. Its secret? The Dual VVT-i and Toyota’s trademark Stop & Start technology that lessens the use of fuel. If you want poser and speed, the RS trim of the VItz is definitely the one for you, with its 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can generate 110 horsepower. All of the latest Toyota VItz variants have continuously variable transmission or CVT, which undoubtedly adds to the model’s fuel efficiency. The RS grade is the sportiest variant, obvious in its racecar-style seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and exclusive front and rear design, from the bumpers up to the roof spoilers. RS owners can choose from a five-speed manual or seven-speed Sports Sequential Shiftmatic transmission. The Vitz is equipped with the latest in audio and media technology: in addition to the standard AM/FM and CD player, there’s also a USB port for iPods and other media players, six speakers with auto sound leveling, HD Radio, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
