Jeep dealers and enthusiasts get excited every year as the manufacturer unveils the newest additions, upgrades, and other changes to its collection. But this year, there's a whole new model that fans are anxious to get a good look at and take out for a drive. The all-new Renegade hits lots in December and will be available in the Latitude edition and an extras-filled Trailhawk edition. If you're thinking about getting a new mid-sized SUV, you'll want to learn more about this exciting new option. First, it's worth noting that the Renegade has a lot of style. Its design was clearly inspired by the Wrangler of yesteryear, specifically the old Willys from Jeep's early war days. The design pays homage to the era by including Xs on the taillights and in other, less obvious places. Those Xs mimic those that are present on vintage military gas cans referred to as Jerry Cans. One feature fans and Jeep dealers will take note of is the dual-panel removable roof. The panels are manually removed to feature a large open area above both the front and back row seating. Drivers get three options: both panels closed, one open, or both removed for that true wind-in-your-hair feeling. The panels can be stored in the back of the vehicle when detached. The Renegade has some hidden highlights, too. Owners and Jeep dealers may not find them for weeks or months, though, unless they cheat by going online to find their locations. Those army-inspired Xs are discreetly hidden throughout the design, along with silhouettes of vintage Willys on the wheels and numerous other secret details known as Easter Eggs. The manufacturer is keeping those treats a secret, so owners can discover them for themselves as they build a relationship with the vehicle and get to know its every square inch. At the end of the day, what Jeep dealers and future owners care about most is performance, and the Renegade promises to deliver. The Trailhawk is Trail Rated with Best-in-Class 4x4 capability. It has an advanced terrain selection system that lets the driver choose between rock, sand, snow, and other conditions. A personalized information display keeps the driver informed of the vehicle's status. A 0.8-inch lift kit features off-road suspension and hill descent control, and optional off-road aluminum wheels and super-aggressive tires are ready for even the messiest conditions. There are plenty of perks that make the Renegade a convenient and comfortable ride. A heated steering wheel promises to make any cold winter morning a little less miserable, hands-free calling is a breeze with the built-in system, and clever storage areas, large and small, make it easy to cart around everything you need. Time will tell if the Renegade becomes a best-selling vehicle in 2015, but early buzz suggests that it may. Sales in Italy are expected to outpace those in the U.S., but as word spreads about this new model that might change.
