We all know Katie Holmes as the typical good girl, for her role in ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and now she is set to let all that good girl image get past her as she is being in talks of being cast as Elena Lincoln in the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie. After casting Jamie Dornan with Dakota Johnson as the lead protagonists of the novel ‘50 Shades of Grey’, the casting team is now in the process of zeroing in on a face that will be of Elena Lincoln, who plays the former lover of the lead character Christian Grey. The novel that has sent Hollywood into a tizzy to finalize a rocking cast is written by E.L. James and revolves around the two main characters of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. The story also involves other important characters like the one that will supposedly be played by Katie Holmes if the cards are dealt right. After much speculation, and after the hugely publicized exit of Charlie Hunnam from the movie franchise, the producers have finalized Jamie Dornan with Dakota Jonson to step into the shoes of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. The ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie casting team should not rest till finalize all characters – major and minor. In the hands of crafted performers like Katie Holmes, even a small role can leave a remarkable impression on critics and audiences alike. Though it has not been suggested as yet whether the role of Elena Lincoln will differ from the novel or will be lengthened or shortened, it can be said that in the E.L. James novel ‘50 Shades of Grey’, all characters will play pivotal roles to take the story of BDSM inspired love forward. When E.L. James had burst onto the literary scene with her new novel, some had called it erotic, and some had even said that it should be banned. But contrary to the feelings of a percentage of people, 50 Shades of Grey’, has done remarkably well and by virtue of its sales, E.L. James today is the highest earning author in the world. She is just as much involved in the film as she was in the novel. Katie Holmes image as an actress is bound to go through a sea change if she finally makes the cut and joins the cast of the Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie. But at the same time, some sources and popular opinion has gone against Katie’s choice to be cast as Elena Lincoln because in the novel she is a much older woman who is ‘friends’ with Christian Grey’s mother and gives him a taste of the forbidden practices of BDSM when he is still a teen. Till now Katie’s conservative choice as an actress in the selection of roles has been seen as a safe option. But the role of Elena Lincoln would show Hollywood the panorama of her acting prowess. Jamie Dornan with Dakota Jonson is already a part of this venture and provided Katie too joins the cast of this much publicized Hollywood outing, this movie will get another reason to be watched for.
