This flow of business continued into the late 2000’s when Melvin’s world was rocked by the real estate crash. Melvin has worked hard to rebuild after losing a portion of his workforce following the economic downturn. But it wasn’t just his fire for overcoming the diversity. It was his loyalty to his company and employees. Melvin is known to be a gregarious leader, as well as a humble, fair, generous, personable man. This attribute has been an important factor in creating the solid company he operates today and has definitely proven an integral portion of his material success. Mel Kay continues to have governmental contracts awarded to his company, and they serve as his bread and butter to bridge the gap in the shortfalls of the current market. But he isn’t the top fencing agent in his region just for that. Homebuilders and private homeowners enjoy great flexibility and selection in Golden State Fence. Melvin has successfully diversified his offerings to not just fencing, but also electronic gates, security enclosures and pet kennels. Today, Melvin is still going strong. However, the economic slump has shrunk his workforce to around 450. But Mel Kay is still at it.
