Another event worth to mention is the Tribute to Cajun Music concert started by the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana in 1974. The Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission blended the Tribute to Cajun Music and the Bayou food Festival in the year 1977, which got the name Festivals Acadiens. The Festival International de Louisiane This is a yearly arts and music festival that is an ode to the rich French cultural heritage of the place. The festival dates back to 1987 and numerous musicians, artists, and craftsmen from around the world come to attend it each year. The festival is free to the public and is held in the month of April. With each passing year, the popularity has soared and it won the "Best World Music Festival" by About.com readers in their 2012 Readers' Choice Awards. This festival is funded by donors, volunteers, and attendees after buying a pin.
