First City Monument Bank Plc (FCMB) has emerged as the, “Best Bank in Pre-paid Card Issuance for 2012”, at the annual Verve Bank Awards organised by Interswitch Nigeria Limited in Lagos recently. The Bank beat two other nominees in this category to win the award. According to the organisers, FCMB emerged victorious for recording the highest growth in pre-paid card thereby, “contributing significantly towards the realisation of the objectives of the cashless policy system”. Interswitch noted that the Bank also developed a suite of innovative and convenient card schemes tailored to meet the needs and support the business of its clients. Among these are; the SPAR Gift Card Scheme, the DSTV Payment Cards and Instant Issuance Card schemes, which have set the Bank apart. Beyond this, FCMB was further commenced for having the highest ratio of activated pre-paid cards in the Nigerian banking industry. The Director of Switching and Processing of Interswitch, Mr. Akeem Lawal, described FCMB, “as a financial institution with robust platforms that enhances seamless electronic payment and product offerings, which have been deployed in driving its retail, corporate, commercial and investment banking businesses”. While receiving the award on behalf of FCMB, the Group Head, HNI and Affluent Segment of Consumer Banking, Mr. Akeem Mustafa, thanked Interswitch for recognizing the Bank’s efforts and contributions. He assured that, “FCMB would continue to endear itself to its customers and the public by deploying leading edge products and services that would enhance their well-being”. Mr. Mustafa added that, “our goal for 2013 is to sustain our position in prepaid cards and to continue driving significant growth in our debit and credit card businesses”.
