The central government has begun the Operation Green Scheme to control the prices of tomatoes, potatoes, and onion (TOP). In this article, we will consider the whole concept of Operation Green. About Operation Green 2020 The central government on October 19, 2020, announced a new scheme- Operation Green- under which a 50 per cent subsidy will be rendered to the Himalayan and North-Eastern states for air cargo of 41 notified grains and vegetables to any place in the country. In mission Operation Greens, the consignments of all specified fruits and vegetables irrespective of price and quantity will be eligible for the 50% freight subsidy. Also, the airlines will present direct air transport subsidies to the supplier, consignor, consignee, or agent by charging only 50 per cent of the actual incurred freight charges. The remainder of 50 per cent will be claimed by the airlines as a subsidy from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries with APEDA Registration. Operation Green Scheme 2020 Summary 1. Objective:- The objective of the invasion is to preserve the growers of fruits and vegetables from making distress sale due to lockdown and reduce the post - 2. harvest losses. 3. Eligible Crops:- Fruits- Various fruits include like Mango, Banana, Guava, Kiwi, Litchi, Papaya, Citrus, Pineapple, Pomegranate, Jackfruit; Herbs: - French beans, Bitter Gourd, Brinjal, Capsicum, Carrot, Cauliflower, Chillies (Green), Okra, Onion, Potato, and Tomato. Any different fruit/vegetable can be added in the future based on the proposal by the Ministry of Agriculture or State Government (List of eligible crops, selected surplus production clusters. 4. Duration of Scheme:- for six months from the date of notification in their official website. 5. Qualified Entities:- Food Processors, FPO/FPC, Co-operative Societies, Individual farmers, Licensed Commission Agent, Exporters, State Marketing/Co-operative Federation, Retailers, etc. involved in processing/ marketing of fruits and vegetables. 6. The guide of Support:- Ministry will proffer subsidy @ 50 % of the value of the ensuing two components, subject to the cost norms. Related Articles -
