UGC NET Preparation Tips

Education,Career,Blogs
The UGC NET, also known as the National Eligibility Test (NTA), is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency in order to determine the potential candidates for the esteemed Junior Research Fellowships and Assistant Professorships.Although the exam is complex and category-oriented, more than a million candidates take it every year.If you're thinking about taking the UGC's National Eligibility Test (NET) this year, read on! It may seem daunting, but preparing for the test can be simple with these helpful tips.

An overview on NTA UGC NET

NTA conducts the 81-subject National Eligibility Test (NET), commonly known as UGC NET or NTA UGC NET Exam, on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC), since 1989-90.

As a statutory body, the University Grants Commission was established in 1956 by the Indian Government with the objective of coordinating, determining, and maintaining higher education standards.

In November 2017, NTA (an Indian government agency) was established to conduct entrance exams for institutes of higher education.

Since December 2018, the NTA NET exam has been administered by the NTA instead of the CBSE. It is typically conducted twice a year (June & December cycles), with more than 5 lakh students taking the exam every time.

The exam determines whether you are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor (AP) and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Candidates who achieve marks greater/equal to the JRF cut-offs in their NTA NET for their respective subject are awarded a JRF letter. Basically, a JRF letter is a bearer document that allows you to get a scholarship while pursuing your M.Phil./Ph.D.

UGC-NET 2022 Exam Pattern

NTA-UGC-NET Exam is a computer-based test (CBT). Both papers have multiple-choice questions (Objective) without negative marking.

Paper 1 is a general aptitude test, which takes 3 hours to complete. In paper-1, there are 10 units in which students are assessed for their reasoning ability, divergent thinking, and general awareness. Each unit has five questions of two marks each.

The total marks for paper-2 are 200. Paper-II is the subject selected by the student. It is usually the subject in which the student completed his/her master's.

A student must score 40% in Paper-1 and Paper-2 in order to be considered for the subject-based merit list.

There is no break between paper-1 and paper-2. Both are held in one stretch of 3 hours. The morning shift is from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the evening shift is from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.\

How to pass the NTA-UGC-NET exam on the first attempt?

Examine your syllabus-

Identify your weaknesses and strengths by going over your syllabus. You need to identify the topics that you find difficult and the topics in which you are strong. You have to plan your different strategies based on your strengths and weaknesses. Give more time to your weakness and practice revising it on a regular basis.

Examine previous year's question papers-

The pattern of questions that will be asked in the actual UGC-NET exam and the level of difficulty will be easier for you to analyze if you go through previous years' question papers. When preparing for UGC-NET, you must pay attention to the frequency of concepts and questions that are repeated in the exam. You need to pay extra attention to such repetitive content of the syllabus.

Prepare a unit-by-unit strategy-

The next step is to create a unit-based preparation strategy once you have identified your strengths and weaknesses in the syllabus and reviewed the previous year's question papers. In the UGC-NET exam, you should spend more time on the units that are of greater importance. You should skip the units that are less important.

Dont Panic-

When it comes to UGC Net commerce Coaching Preparation, you need to stay as relaxed and confident as possible. This will be your best chance at learning the material quickly, so you don't memorize concepts for too long. You’ll also be able to stay calm during the main exam if you remain composed and focused by avoiding unnecessary tension. These efforts can lead to improved results in your UGC-NET preparation which can positively impact your performance on the UGC-NET exam too.

Topics need to be revised-

Whenever you begin your preparation, you should review the topic once a week. Next week, next month, and before the final UGC-NET exam, the last revision should occur. Therefore, you should complete your syllabus well in advance to allow time for revision. If you fail to manage time for syllabus revision, it will adversely affect your UGC-NET preparation. Not revised means not prepared.

Conclusion

Whether you are a student preparing for the UGC NET looking to assess the level of skills and knowledge, there is no better way to do so than by conducting mock tests and attending UGC net economics coaching. By simulating the conditions of the actual test, you can ensure that all participants feel as though they are participating in an authentic examination.
