If your employees have Internet access, you have probably wondered how much time they spend in actual business-related tasks during the course of the workday. And, if your workers aren’t as productive as they could be, you’ve probably seen how that can negatively impact your business. The truth is that countless business owners and managers around the U.S. and the world struggle with this problem each and every day. You know your employees need the Internet to effectively perform their jobs, but you don’t want them to waste time engaged in personal Internet tasks during work hours. Many employers have tried Blocking Websites in an effort to restrict their employees’ Internet access and, thereby, improve productivity. Unfortunately, this simply doesn’t work. Most software programs that block websites do so by blocking entire categories of sites, and several of the sites blocked have legitimate business purposes. Blocking those sites may actually end up making your employees’ jobs much harder to accomplish! Technological advances such as smart phones and tablet PCs present yet another hurdle – you may be able to block websites on your employees’ work computers, but you can’t block the access they have to the Internet 24/7 through their smart phones and tablet PCs. In other words, if you try to block access to certain sites in an effort to improve productivity, it won’t work. Other managers have tried computer tracking software to resolve the issue. This type of software (often referred to as “spyware”) is incredibly invasive. Once your employees discover that you’re spying on them – and they will eventually – their trust in you as an employer will be eroded. Once they stop trusting you, they’ll stop wanting to do a good job for you, and that in turn will result in an even lower level of productivity. In essence, using this type of software will only make things worse than they already are! Even if you decide to take the risk and try Computer Tracking Software, it won’t work for the same reason that blocking certain sites won’t work – your employees will still have access to the Internet through their smart phones and tablet PCs. The only real, permanent solution to the problem of decreased employee productivity is to approach the issue from a positive point of view rather than a negative one – in other words, find a way to measure how much time your employees are spending in productive, business-related tasks each day. Once you determine that, you can set a minimum work standard that every employee must meet. The next step in the process is to determine how to best motivate your employees to do a better job. Then help them to increase their productivity by rewarding their efforts. For more information regarding Blocking Websites, please visit Computer Tracking Software
