Are you feeling overwhelmed by the demand to prepare family meals every day? Do not become frustrated with cooking! By reading this article, you will discover great tips to help eliminate the stress of preparing meals. After you try these tips, you will be wishing you knew about them a long time ago!

If you need to slice meat into thin strips, then partially freeze it beforehand. This provides ideally thin meat for Thai, Chinese, or other Asian recipes. When the meat is partially frozen, it is much easier to slice and doesn't tear or stretch. Though, before cooking the strips, they must completely thaw.

Do you experience a guilty twinge when you pitch out rotten fruit? Can you actually save your fruit by cutting the part out that is rotten? Unfortunately, there's no safe way to save a piece of fruit that is partially rotting. The fruit needs to be thrown as away as some of the mold may not be visible and can cause you to become ill.

Have you had difficulty in determining how long to grill your meat? Having a high-quality meat thermometer handy, especially a digital one, is a great way to ensure the meat you serve is fully cooked. If the meat is any thicker than one and a half inches, you can reduce your grill time by closing the lid.

If you want to lose weight and eat healthier, cut back on the amout of oil that you cook with. Butter and oils are often unnecessary fats. Consider giving non-stick cooking spray a shot. The end result is virtually the same, but these sprays are often fat-free and have ingredients that are more friendly to your diet.

For a high-protein diet, meat isn't the only source available. Tofu, lentils and beans are great protein substitutes. Most grocery stores sell both items. Try frying tofu and adding seasoning to replace meat. You can boil the beans with some herbs to have a flavorful protein packed meal, side or snack.

You can add new flavors for your meals by trying different liquids when recipes ask for milk or water. You could use chicken broth or juice, instead of water. Use yogurt, buttermilk or sour cream in place of milk. Changing liquids can improve the nutrition of the dish and make it more lively.

Take the time and steps necessary to accurately measure any oil used for cooking. To make sure the fat content in your food is as low as possible, carefully measure the oil you cook with instead of just eye-balling it. This is the best way to know the amount of oil being added to your food.

Get the freshest garlic you can when making a dish that you must add garlic to. The fresher the garlic, the sweeter the taste. You will want to look for the following characteristics; firm skin, and no bruises or shriveling.

Leaving the bone in is an easy way to decrease the cook time for a roast. The bone will retain the heat and make the meat cook faster from the inside. When done cooking, carve the bone out of the roast and serve.

Make sure that you never use a wine in your food that you would not normally drink. If you use a wine that you are not familiar with or do not enjoy, you are risking culinary disaster when it comes to the flavor of your food. Look for wines that are specifically used for cooking.

Preparing interesting meals for a family is sometimes a little more than challenging. That said, there are many ways to make cooking for your family less of a hassle. You no longer have to dread meal time.
