Choosing catering services is not something we do on a daily basis. If you’re like most people you probably don’t know where to start. If you are planning a wedding, begin your caterer search at the same time you're looking at venues (about 12 months before your wedding date). If you are planning any other event, such as a corporate event, selection of a catering service can be done 3-4 months prior to the event. However, as you search for a venue, learn the rules of the event sites. For example, most large hotels have their own catering services and may not allow outside caterers. You know you want someone to provide a spectacular spread for your event, better than you could imagine doing on your own. But, what do you ask, what do you look for? Ask the caterer what kinds of events they usually do and see if you may have a good match or not. It will help to share what you have in mind in terms of food, how the food will be serve.Narrow down your list of caterers (maybe two or three). Select a caterer that best fits your needs and budget. Decide on the menu pretty early in your party planning process. After you satisfy the most important person or couple in the event, you can think about the other guests at the party. To keep your event lively and entertaining, think about this: Seating arrangements matter. I like to use place cards for dinners, and they’re great when you have a crowd. To keep conversation lively, seat each guest between someone they know and someone they should know. The most important thing to remember is that on the day of the event you want to enjoy yourself and your guests to the fullest. So, take the time to enjoy the food and drinks you help define.
