With the barriers that exist, the Democrats and Republicans do not have the ability to bring about real change. Although there are many who want to, they simply cannot bring Real Change. Because of the partisan politics and the influence of "big money," they are locked into a system in which they have no power or ability to escape. They can't fix the problem because they are the problem. Real change cannot come from using the same philosophy that was used to create the problem. We have a broken system that must be fixed before we can make any progress. It is like sitting in a broken down car with our map out planning our trip when we have no plans to fix the car. Therefore, two things must happen in order for our country to even have a chance. First the two major parties have to work together. Second, the controlling influence of "big money" and special interest groups has to be minimized or neutralized. If these things do not happen, it doesn't matter who the president is, what great ideas they have or how great of a leader they are. We might as well put a five year old in there because no real change will be made. The poor will continue to experience extreme hardship and catastrophe is on the horizon. Right now our nation is in crisis. Our current political situation is like two people (Democrats and Republicans) fighting over who is going to be the hero while a person (our nation) struggles in a lake drowning. Both want to save the person, but their need to be the hero outweighs the need to save the individual. Consequently, they fight over who is going to do it and because neither will allow the other to save the individual, the person continues to gasp for air and cry for help, but the fighting continues despite the desperate situation. Not only is this an emergency situation, significant real change and action must be taken immediately. Our nation is bankrupt; we have significant threats to the country throughout the world; we are becoming segregated, fighting against each other over class envy, race, and gender issues; we have over 17 million people out of work; over 46 million on food stamps; illegal immigrants are flooding our borders; drugs and crime plague many of our inner city streets; people are suffering because they don't have quality education; and all this is happening while the rich get richer and everyone else gets poorer. Is the situation bleak? Yes. But there is hope if we can unite as a people to make the real change required for success and the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. How do we fix these issues? First we have to elect a president that is "Independent." This helps neutralize partisan politics by reducing the partisan barrier that has our leaders bound. Second, we the people have to remove corrupt politicians and replace them with those who put their country before their donors. Third, we have to control lobbyists and the influence of "big money" amongst our political leaders, to include the president. Will it be difficult to fix these problems? There is no question. You can expect a big fight from the big banks, Wall Street, unions, those who receive corporate welfare, environmentalist, corporations, organizations with powerful lobbyists and many politicians. But if we pull together as people, we can "Defeat the Elite" and put our nation on a road to recovery. The only power I know of that has enough strength to overcome the power of money is our united voices and vote.
