The requirement of certification depends on the organization the specialists want to work in. For instance, when the specialist doesn`t need the degree in phlebotomy, the training institutions may offer degree programs in medical laboratory technology or shorter phlebotomy certification programs. The best way to get prepared for the work of phlebotomists is to take part in the training courses through caring phlebotomy instructors. Nowadays it became much easier to get such kind of education. The students can choose the appropriate for the schedule of lessons and program. Educational institutions programs now recognize and accommodate a working person's schedule. The students can study at morning and evening classes, to combine the work and study and to get some additional classes. The great advantage of the majority of the educational medical establishments is the availability of the resource labs that allow students to get more knowledge and practical skills at their own pace and convenience. Phlebotomy training is usually provided at a community college or at a business, technical school or vocational. Usually there are several options for the students how to get the phlebotomist training. Mandatory training courses differ depending on the district or state. The main their requirements are a six week certification course and the high school diploma. This contains the minimal quantity of phlebotomist training program. A lot of career and technical educational establishments offer the more intensive program that is still relatively short. The phlebotomist training programs demand the education and getting the career at the educational establishments and trade schools that last between four and eight months. During the educational process the trainee get the knowledge of the venipuncture art, or drawing blood from a vein. They will also get the skills how to draw blood in smaller amounts from a finger stick. Drawing blood from babies and very small children also requires special care and phlebotomists learn to use a special needle to draw blood from the scalp or for smaller amounts, from the heel. Phlebotomists have also the permission to perform intramuscular and subcutaneous injections. Usually this type of skills is covered in the more advanced phlebotomy training. As for the salaries, usually the wage of phlebotomist is lower than the profession of the nurse and specialists of some other health care related fields. But nevertheless this is a career field that is currently growing, becoming more wide-spread and is expected to continue to grow for the future throughout the world. phlebotomist training
