As a data scientist, what one does during the course of a day does vary quite a bit. Hence, on any given day a data scientist could be doing any of the following (in no particular order): Writing project proposals. Acting as the technical resource in sales meetings. Networking with customers. Exploring new technologies. Attending courses. Mentoring junior data scientists. Leading project teams. Analyzing data. Gaining domain knowledge by talking to customers. Defining business cases Brainstorming solutions to problems. Designing predictive models. Deploying models into production. Designing visualizations and dashboards. It's a pretty long list, however in reality it could probably be longer.
