email marketing strategy who can fully manage your campaigns. ">There’s so much written online about every possible aspect about email campaigns, the subject line, the call to action buttons, your landing page, your website etc… But, one of the most important things is the content of the email itself, the bit that (in theory, at least) people are going to want to read. Perhaps it’s because the content itself unlike many email marketing aspects cannot be statistically analyses, or perhaps it goes without saying, but here are our thoughts on how to get the perfect content for your campaign. The first thing to think about when deciding on putting together content for an email marketing campaign is to ask yourself the question: what are my audience going to want to read, and why would it come from my company’s email campaign. There’s all kinds of great content out there that would get people reading your emails, but striking a balance between that and relevancy is important, there’s not much point if people a reading your content but not having the implied incentive to visit your website off the back of it. The great thing about email content is that you have the scope to do a lot of different things. Highlight a promotion, sample a blog post, tell some stories, share a list of information. The format and framework opens up an endless list of possibilities. It’s all about creating content that has some relevancy to your business, but doesn’t feel like direct marketing. If you can strike this balance, then you certainly have a chance. In terms of style, you have a certain intimacy and relationship built up with your subscribers (compared to say people who visit you from a search engine or a social media referral) so you can afford to be a little bit more informal with the tone and style. Once you’ve decided and created the content, the next stage for your email campaign is the design. This will in part depend on just what content you’ve gone for, but one good thing to remember with the design of an email is to try and make it similar to that of your website. It builds up a level of continuity and makes the transition between email and website easier if they have a similar style. This should be done by matching fonts, colors and layout to ensure that they are as similar as is realistically possible. With all that in mind you are well on your way to creating a killer email campaign that will get people coming back time and time again. You have carte blanche to do as you please with the content, but don’t get too hung up over the same idea in different campaigns unless there is very good reason to, sometimes variety can be a real help.
