Technically speaking, there are three main stages of filmmaking, which are characterized as pre-production, production, and post-production. Although these three are acknowledged as the primary phases of film production, there are other divisions that are now considered as stages of movie development. Pre-production is a stage of filmmaking which involves creative planning, logistical planning, and rehearsals. This part of the process also encompasses the minor category known as the development stage, where scriptwriting, conceptualization, and everything that would be essential to the production stage are arranged. Basically, this phase of the production process functions pretty much like a person’s brain. Every idea that would contribute and ease to the entirety of the production is constructed. After the planning phase comes the execution or production phase. This part of the filmmaking process is where actors and actresses come into the picture. Production is usually the most tiring phase of film creation, because the process involves putting in long hours of work. Transferring from one location to another is also common during this phase. Movie scenes involving the film’s characters would be taken in different settings, to make the movie more realistic. The last segment of film formation is called post-production, which includes editing of the film. This part of the development may also involve distribution of the movie. Producing movies is no easy task. The process may appear simple, but, in reality, it may take months or even years to complete.
