Japanese animated cartoons, or “anime” for short, are as popular and influential as their Western counterparts. Since its humble beginnings in the 20th century, anime has become one of the most influential creations in the world. Tens of thousands of anime titles find their way into TV broadcasts, DVDs and video streaming sites. Ask any person about the first thing that comes to his mind about Japan and he will most likely answer “anime.” Anime was created as a result of Japanese filmmakers searching for creative ways to tell their stories. The first anime skit was no more than two minutes long and used a crude technique for its production. Nevertheless, that simple skit laid the foundation for Japanese animation to grow into a multinational industry. A simple anime movie is generally marked as suitable for people of all ages, youth or adults. Some anime titles are known to have received international awards because of their flexible plots. Anime is so dynamic that people enjoy watching the same episode over and over again. The plot of an anime movie differs greatly from that of a cartoon movie. While cartoons primarily display pure humor, anime contains a variety of moods that do not limit to humor alone. In other words, an anime title can be funny, dramatic, horrendous and action-packed—an all-in-one package that viewers are sure to enjoy. The effects of the anime revolution to the world are very hard to miss. The fan base for the anime movie is constantly growing. It is unlikely that the world will see the end of the anime industry in the future. It is very hard to imagine that something with a good, flexible plot and character progression cannot be popular.
