As somebody who has followed the fluid phone industry as a reviewer since 2002, I've had more than my share of time spent about cell phones tailored for stores which were patently not me. It may be surprising, as a gadget-junkie, to listen to me say this - however I find many smart phones frustrating. They're too complex, are costly they guarantee many performance, if I need to know another set of operating program orders to be performed about a tiny phone screen with buttons small than a tic tac, I'm less likely to put it by its paces. I don't text that much - I've got a well functional computer for that. While it's great to be able to see emails, I've not understood the compulsion to test plus type the bloody aspects about a thumb board. Phones must be phones initially, plus gadgets next.. but guess, of them going mass marketplace, fashion has its spot. Apple's iPhone has motivated many imitators after its launch, and something of the 1st was the Samsung P520, rebranded as the Armani (with a significant cost increase!). The P520 is a tiny, skinny plus sleek touch menu powered phone that attempts to become a smart phone - much as the iPhone does - plus fails, in techniques that I don't incredibly care about. Fortunately, Samsung is advertising the P520 as the P520 again, and also the cost has come down to what it's really worth; it's more than halved in cost. As a phone, the P520 is sleek, skinny plus fits into a trouser pocket well. It still has got the touches that made it feel designer - it has a bronzish colored metal bezel and it's really got the appropriate sort of weigh - not overweight, however enough weight not to feel flimsy. While it's pretty, once it's in the hand, it vanishes. Sound standard was wise - not terrific, however wise. Signal strength in Leeds was great, and also the touch screen was responsive, though nowadays I've had exposure to haptic controls, they all seem lackluster without them. While there have been issues about the phone's fingerswipe way of going by menus in its designer phone incarnation, this seems to have been fixed with the model I have got to test. There remain certain oddities - the menus have numerical shortcuts, despite the reality body fat numerical keypad. It's got a ipod (it's difficult to get a phone that doesn't any longer), and it's really got a decent camera. For someone gadding about town, it has got the appropriate mixture of smart phone qualities plus usability without the frustration inherent to a more complex device. To be sure a true engineering type might think it is woefully limited, however I think it is adequate to my requirements, once more it's come down in cost without the designer label, it is a decent value for this space.
