The shifts in interests and the stability of nursing career have prompted a lot of people to study and take up the easily track nursing programs. Students come from several backgrounds like business, marketing, accounting, etc. so that the students in these accelerated programs are otherwise known as "second degree" students.
Advantages associated with fast track nursing programs students:
- They can be older and more focused in finishing their own studies.
- The students are more serious in their studies and eager to study in class.
- The students are motivated and tend to excel more compared to regular students.
- They're just eager to gain more clinical experience.
- They typically pass the NCLEX-RN at first attempt.
- They tend to be the group leaders and good critical thinkers.
Students undergoing the fast track nursing programs undergo a rigorous and hectic schedule to stay on the 12-18 months graduation schedule. The students has to be dedicated and usually have no break in between terms. There must be dedication and commitment in undergoing this painstaking heavy load with courses.
Common problems and difficulties "second degree" students face:
- Some may find going back to student life a difficult adjustment. The classes are from Mondays to help Fridays from 8am to 4pm. After that you have to study for tests, skills lab and scientific laboratories. Some students find it hard to dedicate themselves 24/7 on their studies.
- Students find it a hard it difficult to accept that working while studying definitely isn't an option. The heavy workload leaves almost no time for students to work even part-time. Fast track nursing programs costs can ran as much $30, 000 and during that time you have little or no income at all. Many students take up student loans to fund their tuition.
Despite these difficulties students face in getting their Nursing degree, "second degree" students fare well after graduation. They feel that after a very rigorous study program they can face any challenges ahead. These students have faced the dispute of completing and graduating an intense examine schedule. Some hospitals also offer to pay the main student loans or sometimes give scholarships in substitution for years of service.
The future of nurses is indeed very bright. With the promise of job security and the satisfaction you receive when you help maintain patients makes nurses very fulfilled as a person. For whatever reason you take up nursing just keep in mind that caring is the central core of birkenstock. With so many specializations and nursing homes, the aging population, people really need to seriously think about taking up nursing. There are more and more people who are considering taking second degree nursing programs and once and for all reason. Some take it because they feel they can be already stagnant at their jobs and choose being in another field of study. Some are really interested in medicine but could not afford the high cost of medical school and that's why becoming a nurse is a very attractive alternative. Taking up nursing as a second degree will surely become a growing number of popular as the years go by and will continue to capture the interest of many people in the nursing field.
