If you were to ask ten people what they love about essential oils and why they actively choose to incorporate them into their daily routine, each person would have a different answer. That is because every essential oil offers a range of health and wellness benefits for your body and mind, and they are all as unique as the person using them. Some of the most common oils are lavender essential oil, peppermint essential oil, lemon essential oil and rosemary essential oil, but there are so many, many to choose from. Essential oils come from the stems, leaves, flowers and bark of special plants. They are called “essential” oils because it is believed that they capture the very essence of the plant, meaning its scent and flavour. If you’re new to essential oils or a seasoned pro, there is always more to learn about how they can improve your life and health! How Exactly Do Essential Oils Work? Essential oils are used to assist the health of your body and mind. Depending on the oil you choose, you can achieve physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual well-being. The coolest thing about essential oils is that they have multiple purposes, and while helping you reach a new level of well-being, it can also improve and balance your health, moods, and the environment around you. When inhaled, essential oils are absorbed by the body the fastest, but they can also be applied directly to your skin. What Is The Best Way To Use Essential Oils? There are many ways to use essential oils, but everyone will agree that the best way to use them is completely up to you! That being said, the most common way is to inhale directly out of the bottle. For some people, this is too strong a scent, and there are other alternative ways to enjoy your essential oils. If you want to apply to the body, you can apply a few drops directly to the skin, but it is recommended to dilute with a carrier oil or a cream, and massage into the skin to avoid a reaction. If you prefer to perfume the room or softly enjoy the aromatics of essential oils, you can mix a few drops with water in a diffuser. Diffusers are very common, and there four different types, including nebulizing, ultrasonic, heat, and evaporative diffusers. Each diffuser has its own way of getting essential oils into the air for you to enjoy its therapeutic benefits, but ultrasonics are most common. Which Essential Oils Should You Start With? Everyone will agree that there are a select few essential oils that you should have in your collection, including lavender essential oil and peppermint essential oil. Lavender is not just a lovely floral scent to enjoy, it can help calm you, reduce feelings of anxiety and stress, and help you sleep deeper. Peppermint has very different effects, and is really good for alleviating headaches, deterring bugs and soothing bug bites. If you’re unsure of what you need, you can always start with a mixed pack, including lavender, peppermint, rosemary, lemongrass, sweet orange and eucalyptus!
