The popularity of the little black dress came through certain stages of depression. This type of dress was previously worn by the Hollywood celebrities in the movie and in their parties. There were many film directors who like to make use of this type of dress in their shoot because the black color used to get distorted in the screen and it used to get botched with the process of color. But as the movie celebrities continued wearing the black dress so the popularity of this type of dress increased during that time. Also after World War II and after the rationing of textile, the black was not considered to be a rationed color and because of this the popularity of the black dress increased. After the World War II, the sexual conservatism and the new look of Christian Dior, the black dress popularity came down and it began to appear as a uniform. In the Hollywood movies also fallen woman were shown in the black dress. After that women again stated to dress in colorful colors. When Audrey Hepburn’s movie “Breakfast at Tiffany” came in 1961, the little black dress again became popular among the people. At that time the black dress was more popular among the young generation people rather than the other generation. The dress of Hepburn was designed by Hubert de Givency which he presented in his first collection in 1952. Hepburn used to wear different design of the little black dress but the black dress only became popular in the movie in 1961. The little black dress that was designed by Bill Blass in 1970 was designed making use of lace which gives it a feminine touch to the dress. But 1970 was known as the time of disco and bright color and because of this the black color was not so much popular. When 1980 came people were busy in making money and so it forced then to wear more black dress so that they can maintain a professional look. During that time the dress designers used to design the little black dress with broad shoulder and peplum. When 1990 came that time was considered to the era of simplicity. During that different types of black dresses were available in the market. This type of dresses was designed in a unique manner by the designer which they used to design in different length. During that time the little black dress were worn with any kind of accessories.
