Many of us often equate cheap dresses to low-quality dresses. This is actually, not a fact. The fact is, some dresses that are expensive also have low quality and some cheap dresses have high quality. That is why we should not judge any product based on their price. To spot a keeper we should know how to find a high quality but cheap dress. Here are some tips worth taking note of: 1. Make sure the fabric is of high quality. You will often find this in stores that sell vintage dress. Though the design of the dress might be a little out dated, you can always modify the design. But make sure that the dress is big enough to accommodate the change in design so that after modifying, the dress will still fit you. You can spot a high quality fabric because they will feel good to touch and it is strong. It will not easily tear with a few stretch of the cloth here and there. 2. The stitching in the dress must be good. Yes, you would not want the dress to easily tear when you wear it. Pull a little at the stitches when you check the dress. If it breaks, it is definitely not high quality. However, this factor alone should not hinder you from buying the dress especially if the fabric is very good. You can always ask a dressmaker to put in high quality stitches on the dress for a good measure. But if you will use the dress immediately after purchasing it, then I suggest you look for a different dress. 3. There must be no permanent stain on the dress. Obviously, if the stain is permanent then the damage is permanent. This is true especially if the stain is in the middle of the dress. If the stain is near the hem or in the sleeves, it can be remedied because you can just cut the hem or modify the design of the dress to make it sleeveless. But if it is in the middle of the dress (example: in the front or back of the dress or in the front or back of the pelvis area of the dress) then it is hopeless. This is the case if you buy from vintage stores or flee markets. If buying in the mall, stains are not a problem most of the time. But you should still check thoroughly because you never know. It is highly advised for all women to have at least one dress in their closet, but keeping more than one or two is always better so you have variation. Buying a dress is an investment for future use but this investment doesn’t need to be expensive because you can always buy cheap dresses.
