Does affordable life insurance really exist? Well, this depends on a few different things such as, are you married or are you single? Do you have any kids? How old will you be on your next birthday? What industry are you in for a living? Do you have hobbies that would be considered risky or even dangerous to most people? These could be anything along the lines of scuba diving, skydiving, pilot, mountain climbing, race car driving, ect? Here are a few tips that might help you in finding affordable life insurance. #1. Don't take part in dangerous activities. Think about this for a moment. Would you sell yourself a life insurance policy? Life insurance companies use average statistics to determine your insurability. They come up with your premiums by looking at statistics from other people your age over the previous year. Most people do NOT engage in high risk behaviors. In other words, you may not be eligible for life insurance because of your dangerous activities. Having your high risk bevavior excluded means that you would not be covered in the event that your death was attributed to your risky activity. #2. Take good care of your body. In other words, eat good foods, work out regularly and get eight hours of sleep. Keep your stress down by living a decent balance between work and play. Bad habits are obvious. In other words, have sex only with protection, eating right and working out and also, putting cigarettes down for good. Quitting smoking will save you a ton of money over time. #3. Buy low cost Term Life. Term Life costs a lot less than other types of life insurance. You can buy Term for a specific period of time such as "Ten Year Term" or "Twenty Year Term" if you are approaching retirement age and the majority of your major bills will be paid off by then. You may want to invest in Guaranteed Renewable Term life insurance instead of Whole Life. This means that as long as you abide by the rules of the policy, and maintain the premium payments, then you can continue to renew it, regardless of the condition of your health. #4. Don't take the first thing that you find. Take a little time and talk to a few different qualified agents first. Sit down with your significant other and go through the paperwork thoroughly. Ask any questions that you may have before signing any policy. Once you buy, review your policy closely through the thirty day "grace" period. Read your policy carefully and make certain that you understand it. Check for anything that you may not understand such as "exclusions" or "Modifications". Keep in mind that it's too late to change anything once you're gone and your beneficiary has to live on what that policy provides. Pick up the phone and get all of your questions answered asap! #5. Sit down and go through every expense that you have now and expect to have in the future. You'll be able to figure out apx. how much insurance you'll need to buy by doing this. This list should have every personal and household expense that you have, all the way down to dry cleaning. Hopefully, these ideas have gotten you off on the right foot. Good luck!
