By committing the entire family to eating bagged lunches, you can save a great deal of money. To get a handle on how much you spend on unnecessary impulse purchases, carry a notebook around with you for a month. Each time you spend money, write down the amount and item you bought. At the end of the month, review all of your entries and determine which ones were not absolutely necessary.
