50-year old Troy Marez was charged by Las Vegas police with drunk driving causing a death, fleeing the scene of an accident and finally not yielding to an oncoming motorist in the automobile accident in Las Vegas. Killed in the automobile accident in Las Vegas was 26-year old Derrick Singleton of N. Las Vegas. Mr. Singleton was driving a motorcycle when he was struck by Mr. Marez’s SUV at Camino Al Norte and W. Washburn Rd. Mr. Singleton was rushed to University Hospital but was declared deceased soon after arriving. After arriving at the automobile accident in Las Vegas, police began investigating and quickly learned from witnesses that the accident had been caused by a Chevy Equinox that quickly fled the scene after the automobile accident in Las Vegas. Additional witnesses and police patrols indicated that the Chevy SUV was headed north on Camino Al Norte. When the driver of the Chevy attempted to turn onto Washburn Rd. he didn’t yield to the oncoming motorcycle driven by Derrick Singleton. The motorcycle slammed into the side of the SUV and presumably fearing arrest Mr. Marez fled the automobile accident in Las Vegas. Witnesses then provided police with the general direction that Mr. Marez had allegedly fled the scene. Police then found Mr. Marez and his SUV in a nearby neighborhood where they quickly arrested him in connection to the automobile accident in Las Vegas. Mr. Marez suffered no injuries due to the crash or his arrest by police.
