The human body has more moving parts than other machines and all the parts are continuously on move. With so many joints and muscles continuously working, it is quite natural that at some point of time the body may experience some kind of pain and fail to perform the routine activity that it is supposed to carry out. This may lead to some kind of restricted physical movements. The underlying reason may be some physical illness, some accidents or even due to aging. Many of such conditions can be treated by Physiotherapy. Physiotherapy is the branch of health services where the objective is to completely restore the physical ability or, to at least minimize the disability. It not only treats injury, but also is useful in prevention of injury. Appropriate physiotherapy will improve strength, steadiness, mobility, and overall fitness of a person. Physiotherapy is carried out by health care professionals known as physiotherapists. They will inspect the patient and then develop a treatment plan to prevent any kind of disability in the patient or to eliminate or reduce the degree of disability. Typically a physiotherapist will evaluate the muscle strength of a person and accordingly suggest and help the person to perform exercises to reduce joint pains, increase mobility and to increase the overall strength and coordination between different muscle groups. For this, he will use different therapies along with exercises, such as hydrotherapy, electrical stimulation, traction, massage for pain relief, hot and cold therapy etc. Physiotherapists use various therapeutic techniques. There are three different types of treatment in physiotherapy. Depending on the need they may be used in combinations or in isolation. These are: 1. Physiotherapy combined with medical treatment 2. Physiotherapy combined with surgical treatment 3. Physiotherapy alone The job of a physiotherapist may be physically exhaustive at times, as it requires providing physical support to the patient and at times even physically lifting them. But the emotional satisfaction that he gets by helping people in pain makes up for the physical strain. Typically a physiotherapist will work in n a doctor’s clinic, hospital, inpatient rehabilitation centers etc. In a non clinical set up the physiotherapist will work in places like fitness centers, and sportsmen training centers. The qualifications required to become a physiotherapist differs from country to country. In some places it may require a formal professional degree while in others it may not require much formal education. We recommend Back in Shape for Physiotherapist Wandsworth and Physiotherapists Chiswick
