Heart disease is a serious health condition that is responsible for millions of deaths all over the world. The United States is experiencing a constant increase in the number of deaths associated to heart disease on a yearly basis even if numerous medical institutions put much effort in trying to decrease the numbers. The only logical reason for this could be because the people don’t know how to prevent heart disease from occurring. Here are some facts on how to prevent heart disease and what we can do to lower our risk of becoming victims. 1.Make the right food choices. One of the biggest contributors to the increased number of heart attacks is the fact that the U.S. is a fast food nation. In other words, Americans are willing to stick to a high fast food diet despite its risks. If you want to live longer, start changing the way you think about staple food and learn how to prevent heart disease. Try to stick to healthy home cooked meals as much as possible, there may be times when the home cooked meal isn’t exactly healthy, but it’s much better than having greasy burgers several times a week. Try eating more food that is high on omega-3 and fiber, these types of food can help lower your cholesterol levels and help repair damaged blood vessels. Also, stay away from food that is high on saturated fat, like pork fat, beef fat and vegetable oil. 2. Make sure you get enough exercise on a daily basis. Exercise does wonders for your body, not only does it keep you in shape but it increases the amount of good cholesterol or high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in the body. HDL is responsible for eliminating bad cholesterol from our system also known as low-density lipoprotein (LDL). Moreover HDL helps repair the damage done by LDL on the walls of your blood vessel. So make sure you have at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday to keep your heart and body in shape. 3. Have good sleeping habits. Make sure you get ample amount of sleep, 6-7 hours will do. Having too little or too much sleeping time can affect your health drastically which does not help in preventing heart disease. It also helps to sleep at the right time.
