A lot of people generally assume that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in women is actually the same as it is in males. This is of course true to a certain degree, since women and men display the same key traits: 1. Inattentiveness 2. Hyperactivity 3. Impulsivity With that in mind, you should also remember that an individual with ADHD, irrespective of gender, could exhibit just one of these behaviors, or they could display all three of these traits. In this regard, ADHD is the same, regardless of one's gender. The moment we look beyond the fundamental ADHD traits, we begin to see common discrepancies between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in women, and ADHD in men. Violent behavior may be the most frequent difference. Women with this disorder almost never show signs of aggression, even if they constantly experience mood swings. Men on the other hand, quite often show signs of violent behavior if the ailment is causing them to encounter mood swings. Unlike guys, women tend to be more prone to depression. Quite simply, while mood swings may cause guys to become hostile, they normally cause females to become gloomy. In either of these circumstances, matters can be made far worse if a person is also vulnerable to impulsive behavior. Mental anguish and impulsivity are not a smart mix for obvious reasons, for the reason that it could end up in suicide. Hostility and impulsivity are also not a very good mix since it typically results in aggressive behavior. It is thought that several men, who have been convicted of violent crimes, are sitting in prison because their ADHD went unobserved and untreated, The same thing applies to ladies who have committed suicide. The problem however, is that although this condition can result in violent physical behavior and/or suicide, so too can the medications that are used to treat the condition. To date, there have been an alarming number of suicides connected with the use of ADHD prescription medications. I can't name the drugs responsible for the reason that I can't risk finding myself in court up against a few of the world's most powerful pharmaceutical manufacturers, but a quick Google search would reveal all. Click on the Google search box and type in "deaths from ADHD meds." Let's just say, you're horrified, especially if you have youngsters that are presently on these tablets. If you have a small child with ADHD you'll no doubt want to do what's best for your son or daughter. An excellent place to begin would be to hunt for information which is specific to the gender of your son or daughter. As I've said, the key ADHD traits could be the same in boys and girls, but there are a few differences that should be considered.
