Gun laws and gun regulation is a hot button topic for just about anyone right now, but the point still stands that as long as you are able to carry your gun, you should holster it effectively. There are many different holsters and bands that people use but many may not know the differences between them all. There are inside the waistband holsters such as a leather IWB and kydex IWB. Each of these have their own pros and cons and should be researched accordingly before making a final purchase. A holster is an extension of your body and is an important part of gun ownership as it affects the draw and needs to be a quick, fast action. Below, this article will discuss the differences in them such as comfort and effectiveness for carry, while making sure the ability to draw your weapon is not affected if a high stress situation should ever arise. When it comes to kydex IWB holsters, these are your standard, light-bearing holsters. Essentially, if you happen to own a firearm that is lightweight and easy to carry, a kydex IWB holster may be for you. These are durable, lightweight, and comfortable for any standard handgun you may be carrying. You do not feel it much against your waist and it shows less than leather does through clothing, such as there is no noticeable imprint. Now, when it comes to leather IWB holsters these are definitely the thicker holsters in the bunch. They are bulkier and will create a more obvious look than a kydex one will, however they are more durable. Whereas the kydex holsters were light, these are not. Some have even noticed the leather wearing down after extended use. Leather is the more traditional style of holstering a gun, but kydex is certainly making a strong stance in the gun ownership world. As you can see, there are vast differences between the two types of inside the waistband holsters. A lot of people will say that it comes down to preference, but only trying them out yourself will ease your mind. The look of a gun in leather may be more appealing to some but the functionality of kydex may override that argument. The only thing to do is to go to any gun shop, try one out, and see what works best for you. No matter what you pick, you have to be sure you can rely on it if the situation ever presented itself.
