Nothing will put a damper on your summer more than a rodent infestation. Finding little droppings, food crumbs, and hearing the scurrying of animal feet is nothing short of a disaster. There are ways to prevent your home from being the nesting place of rodents and critters. Here are a few tips for rodent removal in Dunwoody this summer. - Seal all of your trash. Old food and garbage attracts all sorts of pests and critters. Be sure to put any trash directly into the trash can and then seal it tightly with the lid.
- Keep your yard clean. Debris such as leaves, twigs, and trash give rodents the perfect place to hide. By keeping your yard clean, you remove any ground cover that could offer these annoying pests shelter from the heat and elements.
- Pick up sheds and garages. Sheds and garages often house objects that are decades old. If you haven’t taken a look inside your storage areas lately, there’s a good chance that rodents have decided to bunk up. Get rid of any clutter that might be accumulating in your garage or shed. You can donate it or even have a yard sale. Whatever you do, it’s important to keep these areas clean.
- Protect your garden. Pests love food. Your garden offers them a free buffet of homegrown veggies and fruit on a daily basis. To keep them away, use decoys or traps. There are plenty of decoys that resemble owls and snakes that will easily scare off any rodents that come onto the premises.
- Inspect the exterior of your home. Rodents have the ability to squeeze into really small spaces. Look for any holes, cracks, or openings that could be allowing them into your home. Then, seal them to prevent them from making your house a permanent residence.
- Use screens and vents. If your family loves the fresh breeze that open windows provide, simply make sure that there are screens in the window frames. This prevents pests from coming inside. Vents and grates should also be placed over chimneys to prevent animals from coming in.
- Call a pest control company. At the first sign of rodents, it’s a good idea to call a professional company. They are able to exterminate or remove any pests that may have already made your home their nesting ground.
Don’t let your home become the hiding place for rodents. By following these tips and tricks for rodent removal in Dunwoody, your home will remain pest free this summer.
