Finding and Fixing the Leak Given the nature of hot tubs there are many places in which a leak can occur. Finding the exact spot is the first step. Once the power is switched off hot tubs can be inspected properly. Experts would agree that the first place to inspect is the pump, in particular the seal, if that is damaged then the seal will need to be replaced. The heater element, the pipes, connections and the pressure switch are other places to check as these are the usual causes of leaks in hot tubs. Union fittings can all be tightened to prevent or fix leaks. If there is still no indication of where the leak is occurring, a leak detection dye that is run through the system will show clearly where the water is escaping.
