Don't you agree that Xmas is a magical time of the year? If you put aside all the expense and work that goes into all the preparations I believe it is magical. As a mother, grandmother and now a great grandmother I have had years of experience at getting it right and now feel I am an expert to be honest. What with all the planning and shopping it is a drain on me mentally and physically but when I see the children's faces it is worth it. I spent the weekend watching lots of Xmas movies which we all know start off depressing but always end up with a merry Xmas happy ending. Yes I know it is only a movie but it always gives me hope for the people that are now as well off as me and mine. Now that is not to say we are well off but what I meant was people that are homeless or people who have no one to share this time of year with. There is always someone somewhere that have problems that are far bigger than ours whether it is health issues, money issues or just plain lonely. I treasure the years my family and I spend together rich or poor we are together and that is the main thing for me. This year will be a bit different because one of my sons and his family have relocated to Dubai and won't be with us this year but we both have Skype and will share Boxing Day even if it is through a computer. The magic comes in many shapes and forms. Sometimes it is just in the family being together, other times it may just be the decorations and lights but for me it starts with the planning. I take myself out to my conservatory with a nice cup of coffee and sit under the ceiling fan with light I got last year from Hunter Fan,as I start planning in summer, and work it all out on paper. I know that may sound strange but with the economic climate as it is I need to plan way in advance. Once of my key phrases is life is too short. That is why I want it all down in black and white so I don't have any last minute panics. Once it is all laid out I just have to follow my step by step plan and so far so good. Cards, food, presents and decorations are all done and finished by the 13th December which is my oldest son's birthday and my deadline. Then I can relax and enjoy all bar the last minute food bits and bobs. The house always looks like a winter wonderland and that is magic. I hope everyone has a great Xmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
