There are innumerable laws of nature planted to the totality of the planet Earth. Up until now, these laws have been treated with doubts and questions as clearly shown by the experimentation done by many genius scientists. A particular law that has invariably been put into controversy is the by-product of the law of relativity that made Albert Einstein an idol in the world of modern physics – gravity. Otherwise known as gravitation, it is a natural phenomenon which is defined by the attraction of physical bodies with a force proportional to their masses. We’re not talking about weight here as repetitively discussed by your Science teacher from elementary until college but we’re not going to talk about that. Going back to gravity, this everyday occurrence have been involved in other matters beyond the world of scientific investigations. 1. Enemy. In many cases, the thing that fixates us to the ground can be a real b...other. Because of its powerful lugging, your cheap cell phone accessories easily split into pieces as quick as they fall to the earth. That’s why certain protective cases have been created to lessen the impact brought by the pull of gravity and also to prevent careless owners of the latest gadgets from wasting their parents’ hard-earned money. Not only is it a b...other in technology, it is also the same for anything that loses their ability to fly. When you begin to fall, only two things can happen. Either you gain a one way ticket to your deathbed or for some luck you remember you have a parachute worn before the free fall. 2. Ally. Let’s get romantic considering it’s the month of romance anyway. For the hopeless romantic, gravity is a noble ally. A person you have deeply fallen for can (figuratively) fall upon the heavens and into your warm and caring arms. It’s what all romantics dream of every single night. Just like in the movie City of Angels where the angel Seth gave up his immortality and allowed gravity to pull him down so he could spend the rest of his living breath with Maggie, a human doctor. Display your held back emotions by presenting with gifts like a tablet folio with a Head Case design for Valentine’s! Oh wait, that’s what I wanted...silly me. I meant give them something they can actually use because admit it, flowers and chocolates are so overrated. 3. Equilibrium. Gravity is what separates us from the unknown universe which proves to be difficult rival for humankind. It is through gravity that balance is maintained not only in literal sense but also in everyday ideologies. As simple-minded humans, we sometimes let ourselves be sucked into the world of pride and superficial affairs. The only force powerful enough to hold us down to where we are supposed to be is gravity. Whether it’s a foe or ally, gravity is marvel that can never be rivalled by scientific investigations all because it is a one of the indestructible forces of nature. It’s always going to be around.
