Bye, an independent journalist for the Mirror Rearview, a fictional newspaper in Laicos County, an imaginary USA municipality. Twelve months ago, Laicos County Executive, Alice N. Wonderland ordered a permanent lockdown of its residents to curtail the spread of COVID-19, based upon the recommendations of Dr. I. M. Gloomy, an epidemiologist, and Dr. Max Panik, head of the County Department of Health. However, using a lottery number system, Laicos County residents are allowed to spend three hours outside of their residence one day each month, provided they wear approved masks. This includes shopping for groceries, prescriptions, and any items needed for the next month. Based upon the recommendations of Lt. Major Fear, a retired military psychologist, Alice N. Wonderland has mandated that every Wednesday is a mental health day for the entire population in Laicos County. If a person’s three-hour monthly pass comes up on a Wednesday, all businesses are closed, so unfortunately, there is no access to buy critical items. With the backing of her medical team, Ms. Wonderland has initiated a mandated vaccine shot for all Laicos County residents over the age of one by January 1, 2022. All vaccinated people are given an armband to wear in public. She has encouraged public criticism if encountering a person not wearing an armband. Thus, a black market has been created for entrepreneurial folks manufacturing fake armbands, although a punishment of five years in prison has been enacted if caught. Wonderland is also proposing to allocate $40 million of the County’s improvement budget to build 20 barracks in a secured compound in Dystopia, a small community located in eastern Laicos County. The compound, called Menticide Village, will hold residents who refuse to get vaccinated, including booster shots. This also includes residents who have confirmed antibodies from already contracting COVID-19. . With the proof of Omicron, the new COVID-19 variant, detection in Laicos County, Wonderland is emphasizing the critical need for everyone to be vaccinated prior to the January 1st deadline. Last night on a social media site, someone posted a photo of a local billboard with the word “MORONIC” written across the forehead of a photo of Alice N. Wonderland, who was portrayed with her fingers on a syringe inserted into the word ‘OMICRON’. The photo now shows the word OMICRON crossed out and arrows connecting to form the word, ‘MORONIC’. (Note: As most of you know, changing letters in a word to create another word is called an anagram). Today, a photo of that same billboard shows the word ‘MORONIC’ removed. BREAKING NEWS: I have learned from anonymous sources that County Executive, Alice N. Wonderland, is changing the name of Laicos County to Utopia County. In addition, the county seat, Laicos City, will be renamed Nirvana. A detailed press conference to explain the name is expected within the next two days. "The Developer"
