Bucket List Holidays: Top Destinations for Retired Travellers

Travel & Tourism,Insurance
The world is full of stunning wonders to discover. Without the strains and stress of having to go back to work, these destinations are perfect for any retired traveller. Simply follow where your heart leads you!

Australia

With quite a long flight time and plenty of sights to see, this gem is often forfeited by travellers because it needs too many days off to be explored properly. However, there’s nothing to stop you when you’re retired! In metropolitan Sydney, marvel at the iconic opera house. On Kangaroo Island’s nature reserve, called Australia’s Galapagos, you will find koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, fur seals, penguins and kookaburras. You also shouldn’t miss the world-famous Great Barrier Reef, which is home to gorgeous corals, dolphins, turtles and other wonderful marine life.

If you’re slightly daunted by the idea of travelling to a far-off continent, you don’t have to worry. If you purchase reliable worldwide travel insurance, you can receive support in any challenging situations, which will give you much needed peace of mind before you set out on your journey.

Ireland

Ireland is a perfect mix of serene greenery, friendly people and fun, traditional pubs – it’s easy to see why this country would make a superb holiday. In Dublin, you can learn about the rich history by visiting Trinity College and the prison turned into a museum, Kilmainham Gaol. For a different experience (and to enjoy some wonderful views of the city), head to the Guinness Storehouse to try this famous drink right where it originated.

For Hollywood and history buffs, here’s an exciting bit of trivia – the town of Cobh was the departure point of the Titanic, and you can now tour the White Star Line ticket office. Again, it’s best to speak to a specialist to choose a dependable worldwide travel insurance cover before you start the journey, so you don’t have to worry once while on holiday.

Canada – Rocky Mountaineer

This is an ideal way to enjoy a superb holiday across Canada without having to drive yourself. Simply sit back and enjoy the stunning views of lush greenery, craggy mountains and beautiful skies as the Rocky Mountaineer train journeys through the Canadian Rockies. The glass-domed railway cars offer an experience like no other. Depending on the route you choose, you can visit places such as Jasper National Park, Lake Louise, Yoho National Park and Banff National Park, all of which make for an exciting adventure.

Sicily, Italy

This picture-perfect town off Italy’s azure coastline is the ideal Mediterranean getaway. The capital, Palermo, is brimming with colourful outdoor markets and beautiful cathedrals. It’s no wonder there’s a bustling street food scene to experience; you must try the famous arancini, which are fried rice balls. The trip would be incomplete without sampling the local wines, most likely made from grapes grown in the vineyards near Mount Etna, the town’s active volcano. You can also enjoy one of Sicily’s many golden beaches and delectable seafood.

Before You Go

It’s recommended you invest in worldwide travel insurance so that wherever you decide to travel, you can rest easy knowing that your policy will keep you safe. Additionally, research the destinations you’re visiting to decide which activities will be suitable for you, as you may not necessarily enjoy the typical tourist offerings in each of them.

Whatever you choose, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience. You deserve a luxurious getaway after years of working hard. Now’s the time to enjoy the best the world has to offer – and you’ll definitely not regret visiting any of these gorgeous countries.
