More generous websites let users view free movies online without requiring membership or subscription. Many users create online accounts anyway to give feedback and communicate with fellow viewers. Copyright policies are strictly adhered to in these free viewing websites. Most classic movies are available on these sites because they are under public domain. No longer subject to copyright, these movies may be freely reproduced, adapted, and copied into free movies online. Public domain movies often inspire loose adaptations of them that may or may not become public domain items themselves. Copyrighted movies are more difficult to post as free movies online; these often require the approval of the movies’ respective production companies. Otherwise, the site may be compelled to remove the video from its system sooner or later or even take legal action. Until then, Internet users enjoy the movies for free as long as they can.
