The holy grail of search engine traffic is to be in the top three on Google for a specific keyword phrase. When you do this you are above the fold where people can easily find you. Since Google gets more traffic than all the other search engines put together, naturally this is the one you want to be on. However, the question does come up as to whether you can make good money and not be on page 1 of Google. Could you make money if you are on page 2? For the most part I would say no. So here's how you get around that. Work at controlling the amount of traffic you get. It's pretty hard to control where you rank on Google because you never know what Google is going to do. So how do you control traffic? 1. Paid advertising. The best way to do that is to do buy ads in various ways. I like pay per click advertising on Google Adwords, or on Bing and Yahoo. It may take a little while to get your budget and your traffic established, but once you do you should know pretty much how many visitors you are going to get every day. 2. Social networking. Social networking on Facebook and Twitter works. You could even do paid ads on Facebook.Tweeting on a regular basis can give you traffic if you are in the right niche and have a decent amount of followers. 3. Blogging certainly can work. One good idea is to bookmark your blog posts into social directories. Use a bookmarking service such as Only Wire or Social Marker. 4. Video marketing on You Tube. This is the third most visited website in the world every day. They just announced they are now getting one billion visitors a month which puts them right behind Facebook and Google. Google loves You Tube because they own You Tube. Getting a video ranked right now is not especially hard to do. You can also take your videos and tie them in with your blog to generate fresh content. 5. Forum marketing. Hanging out and making posts in a good discussion forum is a great way to get quality traffic. A good example of this is the Warrior Forum. I know people who earn a full-time living generating customers off of this forum. You do not have to be on page 1 Google to make money online.
