The characters of your horror novel are probably the most important part of your creation. Horror novels consist of unpredictable scary events occurring to unsuspecting individuals. Horror novel readers are able to connect better with the story when is involves characters they can relate to. Authors will often make the readers see the story through the eyes of the main characters in the horror novel. This creates an even greater thrill as the readers will feel as though the events taking place were happening to them. Learning how to write a horror novel is similar to learning how to write other novels. You must be careful in choosing your characters. Readers should be able to relate to the protagonist. This character should have realistic flaws that make him or her seem normal. Horror novels don't always have an antagonist character. The antagonism may occur as an event or non-human being. If your horror novel involves an antagonist character, you should avoid revealing who exactly he or she is so as to increase and maintain suspense throughout your work. The characters and events causing conflict in the novel should be as unpredictable as possible.
