Jeffrey Arsenault, of Old Greenwich CT, is not your ordinary business suit-wearing hedge fund manager.
Growing up in tightly-knit Old Greenwich, CT – incidentally dubbed as the hedge fund industry Mecca – Arsenault saw first-hand how the once- sleepy neighbourhood became one of the most sought-after real estate markets in the country. Old Greenwich residential properties rank in the top five most expensive real estate in the US, and three of the ten richest hedge fund billionaires reside in the area – Edward Lampert, Paul Tudor Jones, and Steven Cohen.
Although Arsenault currently holds office in New York – being the founder and principal partner of hedge fund and investment management firm Old Greenwich Capital Partners – he never loses sight of how the industry is behaving. Together with fellow industry players, he has been actively campaigning for the business community’s support for social and educational activities in cooperation with academic institutions and museums.
In fact, Arsenault has been a main driving force behind the Stepping Stones Museum for Children Swing Into It! Golf Tournament. For many years now, he has actively participated and lead in the said fund-raising sports event to support the Open Arms program of the said museum. Already in its 10th year, the program has funded school activities such as museum exhibits, parent workshops, and educational programs, benefiting thousands of beneficiaries consisting of parents, children, caregivers, and teachers.
This year, the Swing Into It! Golf Tournament was held at the prestigious Stanwich Club in Connecticut. Open to the public, the event featured a buffet reception, raffle, silent auction, and luncheon aside from the round of golf.
With more than half a million dollars raised so far, organizers of the annual event was able to raise bigger funds this year with the help of sponsors, mostly from the business community. For his part, Arsenault campaigned for support to the said event and urged his industry contacts to support the activity.
“I believe it is the duty of everyone to take time off from work and give back to the community through sponsorship, offering personal time or mentoring. Most importantly, businesses should give back to the community through such fund-raising events,” Arsenault said.
