Network marketing, often called multi-level marketing, should be very simple. The notion that it takes a lot of time to build a business may be true. It's not a 'get rich quick' business. However, the grind work that once dominated this business model has disappeared. With today's technology, there is absolutely no excuse for someone not to at least try network marketing. Prior to the internet, the time commitment for this business was too much of a strain. There was always personal presentations, one-on-one meetings, group presentations, house parties, sampling parties, etc. Exposing the products or services took time. And exposures are the key to a successful business. With the internet, the use of webinar technology has made exposing the product or service very simple. The talented people within the organization have to display their skills help other people in their organization. So if you or someone you know can develop a quality webinar, you can share the story of the network marketing business to the masses. Simply put, you can multiply yourself! But then for some people that join your organization, there are nerves surrounding the actual invitation itself. Talking to people. The internet is a very powerful tool, but at the same time, it has crippled communication. We no longer have the ability to talk to people. But the internet solves this problem as well. Rather than personally invite people directly to the presentation itself, you can invite people to view a small invitation online. Again, utilize the talent within your organization to create this for you. That's the beauty of network marketing. You are not alone. This online invitation can be about 3 to 5 minutes long. So the ball gets rolling with very little effort. Finally, the idea that you have to be a "master" at recruiting is not true. You have to keep things very simple. Imagine if everyone in your organization just enrolled 3 people. That's it! Now I'm not suggesting that you abandon recruiting after enrolling 3 people. That's ludicrous. But painting the picture for stepping out of recruiting into coaching and development only makes sense. You can't be in a constant state of recruiting because those people that join your business will be quickly left behind. You have to at some point "put your arms" around them and give them the tools to succeed. So what you should do is simply enroll in clusters of 3. After you sign 3 people into the business, put recruiting on hold. Help those 3 people enroll their 3. Then go back and give another burst of energy for 3 more. This creates a culture of everyone providing a burst of energy for 3. So this now becomes the norm. It also fosters an environment of assistance so that no one gets left behind. Network marketing should be a fun journey. The internet makes it happen. That's as simple as it gets. Brandon Barclow is a professional network marketer.
