MLM or Multi-Level Marketing is the fastest growing home based business today. There are as many different marketing systems as there are products to market. Choosing the right MLM, and learning how to market yourself and your products is only the beginning. MLM is a business, and it is your business, not the company who you sell products for, they are the supplier. You are the CEO of your company, and as the CEO you need to make the right decisions for you and your business. And the right decisions only come from asking the right questions. 1. Which Market is right for me? Basically this comes down to choice, are you confident in the products and do you think you have a market for those products. Are you comfortable with the company and its philosophy and its mission statement? Have they offered you support in reaching your goals and in how to grow your business? The person who showed you the business is called your up-line and they are your mentors in this business, you do not work for them and they don’t work for you, but they should show you how to grow and maintain your business. 2. Learn the compensation Plan. All MLM’s have a compensation plan, and generally speaking they can be quite generous to their distributors. In plain English, a compensation plan is the way you are paid by the company you have signed with. There are different levels of payment available as you grow your business and teach others that you have recruited how to grow theirs. The people you have recruited are called your downline, and the more downline you have recruited or sponsored and the more people they have recruited or sponsored the higher level of compensation you are paid. It is important to know your compensation plan so you can explain it to people when they ask you about it, and ask they will. 3. Share the products and the opportunity. The business plan of MLM is simplicity itself; it is simply sharing the products and the opportunity with those closest to you, your family and friends. What could be easier than talking to people that you already have a rapport with? Of course not all of them will be interested, some will, out of loyalty, buy products and some will see the benefit of the opportunity. Some will run with it and some will limp on and eventually quit. This is common and to be expected. But in the end they are your family and friends. You teach your sponsored downline to do the same, they teach their downline to do the same and so on. It is called your warm market. There are other types of markets available as well. 4. Invest in others. As your business grows and you are getting responses and have a small group, the dynamic of the MLM changes slightly. To grow any further you now need to invest in the others in your group, teaching the system and the compensation plan. Helping your group to grow their own businesses is the only way your business grows. As your up-line taught you now you teach your downline, by holding meetings for them and teaching them how to sponsor others. MLM has the potential to change your life and of those around you, but it is not a get rich quick scheme, as is told by some people. It is a business, and as with all businesses it can take time, time to develop a loyal retail base and sponsor a downline.
