477. A World With Untrustworthy Doctors
June 24, 2020
I was doing my daily journal entry yesterday. One thought led to another and this question popped into my mind.
Can we trust our doctors?
It’s a very random thought, but a potentially scary one too. Imagine what our lives would be like if we can’t even rely on doctors to help us when something goes wrong with our bodies.
So I decided to look that question up to see what other people think of it.
I’ve seen some interesting answers. What shocked me the most was an article explaining why you shouldn’t trust a doctor, written by a doctor himself.
While it was an interestin... (read more)

478. Here's a Corny Joke For You
June 23, 2020
What did the cyberbird say when it flew over Fiverr?
Cheap.
Cheap.
Cheap.
Don’t laugh too hard now, it’s true.
You can find so many different kinds of services there, and a lot of the services that are normally expensive are priced as low as $5.
While that sounds pretty nice, it doesn’t mean you should jump on those services and outsource everything to low cost Fiverr freelancers.
There’s a saying that goes like this:
“Cheap is the new expensive.”
Let me give you an example of what that means.
Many years ago, I wanted to buy a new mouse for my ... (read more)

479. What Gets People Hooked On This Scripted Show
June 22, 2020
I talk a lot about why entertainment is a great tool when selling. And if you’re still not convinced, here’s one more reason that proves it.
When I was around seven years old, one of my old classmates introduced me to WWE. At the time, being a person seeing that type of entertainment for the first time, I was glued to the show.
There was a lot of trash-talking, fighting, cool dramatic entrances, and audience chanting.
It was mesmerizing.
Later on, one of my friends told me that everything you see in WWE is scripted.
It’s all fake.
My heart broke a little bit when ... (read more)

480. One Reason Why This Gym Is So Successful
June 20, 2020
I really miss my gym and all the fit, muscular people that I see there.
What’s the gym I go to, you wonder?
One of the most convenient gyms around.
Planet Fitness.
It’s inexpensive, it’s relatively close to my house, my friend recommended it. They’re simply one of the best gyms around.
My first day of exercising there was not that bad of an experience. Partially it’s because I’ve had a weight training class back in high school, but it’s something about the brand that makes me feel comfortable.
The company’s slogan is written everywhere.
“The Judgement Free Zo... (read more)

483. The Success Behind My Short-lived Resume Writing Service
June 17, 2020
Before I got into copywriting, I actually ran a resume and cover letter writing service for roughly one month on my school campus.
Because I interned at the nonprofit organization and worked closely with the Executive Director, who has a lot of experience with resume critiques, I picked up a lot of his tips and tricks.
And I thought, “Why not put them to good use?”
So I spent a day writing up the ad, printed them, and posted them on every bulletin board I found.
Long story short.
In one month, the ad pulled in two to three leads per week, and I ended up working with th... (read more)

484. The Secret of Successful Musicians and How You Can Use It In Your Business
June 16, 2020
A few months ago, I was at a networking event run by, in my opinion, one of the best hosts in New York City, Roger Kuperway.
Towards the end of the event, I was sitting at the bar eating some popcorn and I met a particularly hardworking man. He’s an inventor, an entrepreneur since he was a pre-teen, and primarily a musician. So music was our main topic of conversation for the night.
While we were walking to the train station, we got into talking about the music industry and how artists can launch their own careers successfully.
It was interesting learning about it since I knew n... (read more)

485. The case of TikTok obsession going a bit too far
June 15, 2020
I have to give props to the company that created TikTok. Even though they didn't entirely start building their user base from scratch, they're getting the younger people hooked on the app. But certain people I personally know are always on the app to the point where it's a bit concerning.
Here's a short story.
There's this group of girlfriends I know who love to showcase their dance skills to the people of TikTok, whether it's their own choreography or these short dances better known as "TikTok dances."
And don't get me wrong, they're all pretty good dancers, especially since so... (read more)

486. An Ingenious Way to Sabotage Your Competitors' Ads
June 15, 2020
I currently have a project going on where a group of colleagues and I are consulting a local skincare startup company. Specifically, we’re helping them with their marketing strategies.
Once a week, we’d have a group call to talk about our progress, updates, and our next steps.
On Wednesday, we had our weekly call and one of the members said something very interesting.
He said that a former mentor told him that,
“If you ever come across one of your competitor’s ads, click on it as many times as you can.”
Why?
For the sole purpose of sabotage. To drain their ad budg... (read more)

487. The Story Of My Three Week Old Desire to Be An Improv Performer
June 15, 2020
In summer of 2019, one of my oldest friends and I went on a weekend trip to Chicago. It was pretty interesting considering it was our first time planning a long distance trip together. Although parts of the trip didn’t go as planned, we still had some pretty good experiences. Seeing the beautiful city skyline. Eating their famous deep dish pizza. Visiting their museums. And watching their local improv comedy shows. Fun fact: It was my very first time attending improv comedy shows, and we went to two shows. When I sat through the first one, I was amazed to say the ... (read more)

488. How to Write Copy That's Harder to Kill Than Lord Voldemort
June 14, 2020
As children, you were probably taught the importance of recycling, and how it can help our fellow planet Earth. If you haven’t, you should probably take a few minutes to look it up.
Anyways, it’s a beautiful concept. You’re basically making something new out of something that already exists. And there are so many ways to recycle. Some ways are more clever than others.
For examples:
My brother uses old school textbooks and the thick SAT study guides to uplift for his computer monitor. I think they’ve been put to good use.
My mom used a Tostitos salsa dip jar as a vase to gro... (read more)

489. The Stupidly Simple, Yet Ingenious Product That Made the Creator a Millionaire In Under One Year
June 14, 2020
If you've ever owned a pet, or know someone that does, you probably know how tiring it can be to take care of one, depending on what pet it is. You gotta feed them, bathe them, clean up their poop, shower them with your attention, maybe take them for a walk too.
Fun fact: I recently learned it’s possible to take cats out for a walk.
Who knew?
Anyways, what I’m trying to say is, pets take up a lot of your time.
In the 1970s, a copywriter named Gary Dahl was at a bar with his friends and they were talking about this exact same thing. And Gary joked about how he had a pet that... (read more)

490. Why Using Irrevelant Images May Increase Ad Performance
June 13, 2020
Lately I’ve been seeing an interesting trend.
Whenever I scroll through my feed on Facebook, I’ve been noticing something different about the ads I’m seeing, specifically the images.
For examples:
There was a lead generation strategy ad that popped up in my feed and the image was simply an overlay of lemons.
There were plenty of ads I saw that used memes as images.
More recently, I’ve seen pictures of attractive-looking couples just posing at a beach or something.
And the one thing all these have in common?
They all have nothing to do with what they’re promot... (read more)

Allow me to share a story from my virtual networking days on Bumble.
I once met a woman who was originally from California. After exchanging some messages on the app. We decided to continue our conversation over the phone.
We went through the usual networking ice breaker, the initial “what do you do” portion of the conversation. After I shared my story, she told me that she works for a travel company and suggested I tell my readers about it.
At first I was a bit confused why she would suggest that, especially since we just started getting to know each other and she never asked a... (read more)

In the marketing world, the most valuable thing you can get from your customer is not their money.
It’s their attention.
Yes, it is nice for them to give you their money, but it doesn’t happen if you don’t get their attention in the first place.

Must be a pretty great lifestyle, thinking that your financial abundance is secure.

When I found out they released a Michael Bay’s Transformers movie in theaters for the first time, I knew I had to see it. And I gotta say, after watching four out of the five movies, I was definitely not disappointed.

498. LEAD FOR THE DAY: QUANTITY OR QUALITY
June 01, 2020
The age-old debate: quantity versus quality. It’s a topic of conversation in many parts of your life. Would you rather go to a buffet and have access to an abundance of mediocre cuisine or prefer to go to a nice restaurant and have one amazing meal that you can really savor? It’s especially relevant in business. Do you want a large team of average workers or would you rather have a smaller team that are the best in their trade?
