The crowded entrance to the examination centre was driving her crazy; the convoluted and distorted sounds of chatter surrounded the area. As soon as she exited the exam hall, one of her friends showed her at least two errors with formulating her answer, for which she would not receive full credit despite the answer being correct. She remembered noticing a question that never appeared in her study notes. Mahsa, the top student in her class told her that the question was an extract from the text book which Mrs. Farshchi (the teacher) told them to revise as well as their notes. During the last week she worked so hard on her revisions causing her to have sleepless nights which in return hindered her concentration during the exams, why has all her efforts gone unnoticed by god? And if this concentration block continues like this, even her family will start to think that she has made no effort for her exams, who is going to believe that she got almost all the workings of the equations correct, but in a blink of an eye distraction came in the form of the tea lady serving the auditor in the hall? When she can't even excel in religious study, who would ever believe that for two solid days she was studying 16 subjects' back to back, makes her wonder where are all these people that believe in the notion of hard work and determination being sufficient to achieve our desires. Where are all these people that believe there is a direct correlation in between the amount of preparation and hard work and the end result? So where is the all seeing god that is supposed to award us for our efforts in our life? They all say that I should be thankful, but for what? For the things I want and can't have, or the things I have and don't want... As she was thinking about these topics, passing a small house just to the right of her, she sees an unfortunate family pushing the wheelchair containing their child through the door, the sight of which involuntarily froze her body. The innocent looking little girl on the wheelchair had such a warm smile on her face, and judging from the books she was carrying it became evident that she is 2 years younger than herself. As she passes them she turns to the father and offers assistance to carry the wheelchair inside, to which the father responded "No, thank you sweetheart, it is no trouble to us". How can it be no trouble to have to repeat this difficult routine everyday and take her daughter to school in that wheelchair? She has so much respect for such warriors of life, that regardless of the hand they have been dealt, still remain positive and grateful for what little they have. Just as they were saying goodbye, she said to the little girl that "I hope you get 100% in your exams" to which she replied "I am willing to die for my parents, I don't even consider this a challenge". This stunned her so much that during the whole time they where folding the wheelchair and placing it in the boot of the car, her jaw dropped to the ground. This grounded her thoughts during the whole journey back home as she just looked at her own working legs and walked home. In the book "Planning with CCTV", there is a phrase that I like, "The meaning of happiness is knowing that the hardship is still to come!" She couldn't wait to get back home, now that she has not achieved the desired results in her exams, she feels that she must surrender herself wholly to her parents to show them how much she appreciates and what they mean to her!!
