This article about ASOT ANTHONY MICHAEL, he is born in Guadeloupe, French West Indies, on December 1969 into a politically active family. Asot Michael is the Member of the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda for St Peter. He is a member of the Antigua Labor Party. He was Minister for Public Works in the government of Lester Bird, until his resignation in 2003 Asot Michael received his early education in Antigua where he time after time showed great talent. He then attended Barry University and the University of Miami --between the years 1985 to 1991-- where he earned his Bachelor and Master of Business Administration degrees respectively. He was always an outstanding student. He returned to Antigua and, for three years until 1994, managed two businesses, to wit Asot’s Arcade and Michael Real Estate Development and Investment Company. In 1997, he joined the public service as the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, a position in which he served until 2003. Hon. Lester Bird, the Prime Minister, then appointed him a Senator, then a Minister of State, and also appointed him the Junior Finance Minister. The latter post brought him commendable assessments by a former Financial Secretary, by several Prime Ministers, and by the regional and international agencies that interfaced with him as the de facto Minister. March 1999 - Appointed a Government Senator in the Upper House of Parliament in Antigua and Barbuda. Appointed Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Public Works, Communications, Insurance, Energy & St. John’s Development Corporation. January 2001 appointed a full Minister of Government with responsibility for Public Works, Communications, Insurance and St. John’s January 2001-June 2003 Appointed and served as Minister of State with duty for the Ministry of Finance. May 1999 - June 2003 Appointed and served as Leader of Government Business in the Senate.
