Often taken for granted, many fundamental rights of under-privileged children across the world are taken for granted. These children sadly live in unimaginable harsh conditions and are unable to go to school or even have their basic meals. They often go for long hours without drinking clean water and are forced into employment in dangerous jobs right from an early age. Some of these professions may include working in factories, brick kilns, as domestic workers, etc. Many of these children run away from their homes as well, in fear and are not given the guidance, affection or support that is required at such a delicate age. They pick up the filthy habits of the people surrounding them and often live in extremely unhygienic conditions with no proper ventilation, making it extremely easy to fall sick. Many of them die from diseases for which they do not even have the finances to purchase medicines. Furthermore, they are also subject to abuse, discrimination as well as violence. These children are denied their basic rights as a child and are robbed of the mirth and joy associated with childhood. Some of the basic child rights include; the right to survival, the right to participate and fulfil their potential, the right to grow, right to health, the right to a childhood, the right to be heard, the right to be treated fairly and the right to have their views expressed freely. These rights go on to extend to the right to leisure and the right to arts and culture. Children have the right to a name as well as a nationality and the right to live in a family environment which is conduicive towards their growth. These children have the right to health and health care. Furthermore, there should be provisions made to protect refugee children, children deprived of their liberty, children in the juvenile justice system as well as those children who have suffered from economic, sexual or any other type of exploitation. However, despite various laws being enforced, the rights of many under privileged children are denied. Despite almost every Government across the world promising to not only protect, respect and fulfil these rights, they are yet violated across the world. Their rights are rarely prioritised by the Governments across the world owing to the vast amount of already impending problems on the society. Many non-profit organisations work towards the welfare of these children. These organisations firmly believe that every child deserves fundamental rights, irrespective of who they are, where they are living or their economic status.
